Seeing the Discord verify phone number prompt? TempSMSVerify can provide a temporary number that receives the 6-digit code in your browser. You pay only if the SMS arrives.

## How do I pass the Discord verify phone number step without my own SIM?

Buy a Discord number on TempSMSVerify, enter it in Discord's phone verification prompt, and copy the 6-digit code from your dashboard. Discord rejects some virtual numbers, so results vary. Your balance is frozen at purchase, and you pay only if the code arrives. If it never does, you are refunded automatically.

## What triggers the Discord verify phone number screen?

Discord does not require a phone number to create an account. It asks in two situations. First, its systems may show a 'Verification Required' screen when activity looks like spam or automation. Second, a server can require members to have a verified phone before they can chat.

Server owners set this with Discord's verification levels. The highest level requires a verified phone on the member's account, which is common in large communities that fight alt-account spam.

## How Discord phone verification works

You press Start Verification or open User Settings > My Account and add a phone. Discord asks for the country code and number, sometimes shows a captcha, and then texts a 6-digit code.

Discord accepts each number on only one account at a time. If you see 'This phone number is already in use,' that number is taken.

## An honest note about virtual numbers on Discord

Discord's help center says it does not support VoIP, landline or temporary SMS numbers. In practice, it rejects some numbers and accepts others, and that can change at any time. We cannot promise that every number for Discord will work.

This is exactly where 'pay only if the code arrives' protects you. If Discord refuses the number, no SMS is sent, and your frozen balance returns automatically.

| Message | Meaning | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Invalid phone number | Discord refused the number or the format | Check the country code, then cancel and try another |
| This phone number is already in use | Linked to another Discord account | Use a different number |
| Code not received | Delivery delay or silent block | Wait, then cancel after about 2 minutes for a refund |
| You are being rate limited | Too many attempts | Wait before trying again |

## You are charged only when the Discord code arrives

Buying a number freezes its price in your balance. TempSMSVerify charges it only when an SMS reaches the number, and refunds it in full if nothing arrives before the number expires. While the number is active, you can request another code at no extra cost.

## Keep access to Discord after the number expires

The verified badge stays on your account after the number expires. But Discord can ask you to verify again later, and it may use the phone for SMS login or account recovery.

- Turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app, not SMS.
- Download and save your Discord backup codes.
- Keep your email verified and up to date.
- Do not remove the phone from your account, or a server may ask you to verify again.

## Do not use numbers to evade Discord bans

Phone verification exists to stop spam and ban evasion. Use TempSMSVerify only to verify your own account, and follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Getting around a server or platform ban, raiding or running alt accounts for spam is prohibited. See /acceptable-use.

## FAQ

### Why is Discord asking me to verify my phone number?

Discord shows phone verification when its systems detect activity that looks like spam or automation, or when a server you joined requires a verified phone. It is not part of normal sign-up. Completing it with a number that receives the 6-digit SMS unlocks the account or the server.

### Can I use a virtual number for Discord phone verification?

Sometimes. Discord says it does not support VoIP or temporary numbers, and it rejects some of them. Others go through. Because TempSMSVerify charges only when an SMS arrives, a refused number costs you nothing. Cancel after about 2 minutes and try another country or number.

### Can I use the same phone number on two Discord accounts?

No. Discord links each phone number to one account at a time. If the number is already on another account, Discord shows 'This phone number is already in use.' Buy a fresh number instead, and remember that phone numbers must not be used to run alt accounts that break Discord's rules.

### How long does the Discord SMS code take?

Discord codes usually arrive within seconds to a few minutes. Send the code once and keep your dashboard open. If nothing arrives, the number may be blocked silently. Cancel the order after about 2 minutes, and your frozen balance is refunded automatically and in full.

### What happens to my Discord account when the number expires?

Your account stays verified. The number only matters if Discord asks you to verify again or tries SMS login or recovery. To avoid problems, switch 2FA to an authenticator app, save your backup codes, keep your email current, and do not remove the phone from your account.

### What is a Discord server's 'verified phone' requirement?

Server owners can set a verification level. The highest level requires every member to have a verified phone number on their Discord account before they can send messages. Once your account is verified, it meets that rule in every server that uses it.

### Can a temporary number help after a Discord ban?

No, and we do not allow it. Using new numbers to get around a server ban or a Discord account ban breaks Discord's terms and our Acceptable Use Policy at /acceptable-use. TempSMSVerify is for verifying your own account, not for ban evasion, raids or spam.
