# Phone number tools for SMS verification

Small utilities we built for the questions that come up every day around phone verification: how to write a number so an app accepts it, which country a dial code belongs to, and what to do when the code does not show up. Everything runs in your browser.

## What tools are on this page?

Three browser-based tools that need no account: a phone number formatter that outputs E.164, international, national and RFC 3966 formats with a length check; a searchable table of country calling codes for every ITU-assigned country; and a step-by-step troubleshooter for SMS verification codes that never arrive.

## Tools

- E.164 phone number formatter: Turn any number into E.164, international and national format, with a tel: link and a length check for the busiest countries.
- Country calling codes lookup: Search 243 countries and territories by name, ISO code or dial code. Find out which country +44, +7 or +1 268 belongs to.
- Verification code troubleshooter: Answer a few questions about the app, the number and how long you have waited, and get a checklist of fixes in the right order.

## Why these three

Most verification failures we see in support are not caused by the app or the number. They are caused by a number typed in the wrong format, a country code mixed up with a trunk prefix, or a code that was requested five times in a row. These tools address exactly those cases, and each one links to the deeper guide when the fix needs more context.

## How the tools connect to the catalog

Each tool points to the next step when a format fix is not enough. The formatter shows the exact E.164 string an app should receive; the calling-code table tells you which country to pick in the app's dropdown and in our catalog; the troubleshooter links to the guide for the app you are verifying and to the auto-refund rules that apply when a code never arrives on a temporary number.

## Nothing leaves your browser

The formatter and the calling-code lookup are plain JavaScript running on your device; the numbers you type are not sent to our servers or stored. The troubleshooter builds its checklist from your answers locally. We do not ask for an email or an account to use any of them.
