Vietnamese phone numbers for SMS verification
A Vietnam temporary number gives you a +84 Vietnamese number for one sign-up, so you can receive a verification code from apps that expect a number from Vietnam. TempSMSVerify reserves the number in your browser, shows the code as soon as it lands and charges you only if the SMS actually arrives.

Why do apps ask for a Vietnamese phone number?
Zalo, Vietnam's home-grown messenger, is how most people, shops and offices in Vietnam communicate, and it signs you in with a phone number and an SMS code. Shopping apps such as Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop, and ride and delivery apps such as Grab and Be, also confirm Vietnamese accounts with a one-time code.
There is a legal reason too. Since Decree 147/2024 took effect on December 25, 2024, social networks serving users in Vietnam must authenticate accounts with a Vietnamese mobile number, or with a personal ID number if the user has no Vietnamese number, before those accounts can post, comment or livestream. Expats, students and teams working with Vietnamese partners often need a +84 number for that reason.
- Joining Zalo groups used by Vietnamese colleagues, schools or landlords
- Setting up shopping and ride apps before arriving in Vietnam
- Testing +84 numbers in your own app
- Keeping your personal number off a one-time sign-up
What does a Vietnamese mobile number look like?
Vietnamese mobile numbers have 10 digits in national format: a leading 0 followed by 9 digits. In 2018 Vietnam converted its old 11-digit mobile numbers to 10 digits, which is why mobile prefixes now start with 03, 05, 07, 08 or 09, for example 032 for Viettel or 070 for MobiFone. You may still find old 01X numbers in outdated contact lists; they no longer work.
In international format you drop the 0 and add +84, so 091 234 5678 becomes +84 91 234 5678. If the app shows a Vietnam (+84) picker, type the 9 digits after the 0.
| National format | International format | |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile example | 091 234 5678 | +84 91 234 5678 |
| Mobile prefixes | 03, 05, 07, 08, 09 | +84 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 |
| Digits | 10 including the 0 | 9 after +84 |
| Old format | 11-digit 01X numbers (converted in 2018) | No longer valid |
Which apps do people verify with a Vietnamese number?
Every app sets its own rules, and acceptance can change from week to week, so TempSMSVerify never promises that a given service will take a number. These are common reasons people pick Vietnam. The catalog shows live stock and the current price for each app before you buy.
| App or service | Typical reason for a Vietnamese number | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Zalo | Sign-in with phone number and SMS code | /temp-number/zalo |
| Telegram | Vietnamese channels and groups | /temp-number/telegram |
| Account authentication for users in Vietnam | /temp-number/facebook | |
| Shopee | Code at sign-up and on new devices | /temp-number/shopee |
| TikTok | Code at sign-up or login | /temp-number/tiktok |
| Google / Gmail | Phone check when creating an account | /temp-number/google |
Do Vietnamese rules affect a temporary number?
Vietnam requires SIM subscriber details to match national identity records, and in recent years carriers have suspended lines whose registration did not match. Decree 147/2024 then tied social media posting to authentication by Vietnamese phone number or personal ID, and the government has discussed linking social accounts to the VNeID digital identity.
These rules are why many people abroad look for a +84 number, but they also mean you should use one carefully. A temporary number is used for a single verification and is released afterwards, which is a poor fit for an account you need to keep long term. Verify only accounts you own, follow each platform's terms and Vietnamese law, and see /acceptable-use.
Will a Vietnamese temporary number work with every app?
Not always. Line types vary by provider, and TempSMSVerify does not market its Vietnamese numbers as carrier SIM lines. Stock for Vietnam can be thinner than for larger markets, and some apps refuse numbers they classify as virtual or previously used.
You pay only when it works. The price is frozen while the number is reserved for up to 20 minutes. If no code arrives, cancel after about 2 minutes or let it expire and the full amount returns to your balance, ready for another number or another of the 140+ countries in the catalog, such as Thailand or Indonesia.
Tips for verifying with a Vietnamese number
A few habits save time with +84 numbers.
- Select Vietnam (+84) and type the 9 digits after the 0
- Never use an old 11-digit 01X format; it was retired in 2018
- Request the SMS right after the number is reserved
- Wait a minute or two before tapping Gửi lại mã; codes usually arrive within seconds to a few minutes
- For accounts you plan to keep, move to a number you own once you are in
FAQ
Vietnam temporary number FAQ
Can I get a Vietnamese phone number for verification from outside Vietnam?
Yes. TempSMSVerify works over the internet, so you can get a +84 Vietnamese number from any country without a Vietnamese SIM. Choose the app, select Vietnam and enter the number in the sign-up form. The code appears in your dashboard, and you are charged only if the SMS arrives. Some apps also check your location, which a number does not change.
Can I use a Vietnam temporary number for Zalo?
Zalo signs you in with a phone number and a code, so a +84 number is the natural choice, and Zalo is listed in the TempSMSVerify catalog when stock is available. Acceptance depends on Zalo's own checks, which can change, so try one number first. Because the number is temporary, link a number you own if you plan to keep the account.
How much does a Vietnam temporary number cost?
The price depends on the app and on current stock, and you see it before you buy; the live price index at /temp-number-prices compares apps side by side. There is no subscription. Top up at least $5 once, and each number is charged only if its code arrives. Otherwise the frozen amount is refunded automatically.
What does Vietnam's Decree 147 mean for phone verification?
Decree 147/2024, in force since December 25, 2024, requires social networks serving users in Vietnam to authenticate accounts with a Vietnamese mobile number, or a personal ID number for users without one, before they can post or comment. Platforms apply it in their own ways, so the steps you see depend on the app.
Is a virtual Vietnamese phone number a mobile number?
Numbers are usually in Vietnamese mobile ranges, but line types vary by provider and TempSMSVerify does not claim they are carrier SIM lines. Some apps check the number type and may refuse certain numbers. Because you pay only when a code arrives, a refused number is never charged; cancel after about 2 minutes or let it expire.
Can I keep the same Vietnamese number for future logins?
No. These are temporary numbers for a single verification, released after up to 20 minutes, so you cannot count on getting the same one back. Once you are verified, add a recovery email, an authenticator app or a phone number you own to the account so you never depend on the temporary number to sign in.
Which payment methods can I use for a Vietnamese number?
TempSMSVerify currently accepts Card via Stripe (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay); Crypto (USDC or SOL on Solana), with a minimum top-up of $5. Card top-ups carry a 10% processing fee; crypto has none. Your balance never expires, so you can top up once and use it for several verifications across countries and apps.
