Phone Number for Hinge Verification
Hinge requires a mobile number for every account and does not let you change it later. Before you use a phone number for Hinge from TempSMSVerify, read how that rule affects you. You pay only when the SMS arrives.

How does the Hinge verification code work?
Hinge asks every member to verify a mobile number. When you sign up, Hinge texts a 6-digit code that you type into the box on screen. When you log in with your phone number, Hinge sends a new code to the same number, which is how it stops someone else from getting into your account.
Hinge also offers selfie verification, which is separate. It checks that your face matches your photos and has nothing to do with the phone number.
Hinge does not let you change your phone number
This is what makes Hinge different. Hinge's help center says that, for security, members cannot change the phone number linked to their account. If you lose the number, Hinge can only delete the old account so you can start again with a new one.
So a temporary number on Hinge is a short-lived account by default. If you want a profile you will keep for months, verify it with a number you will keep. If you still use TempSMSVerify, stay logged in on one phone, and do not delete the app.
Can you log in to Hinge with email instead?
Hinge supports other sign-in options in some regions, such as Apple or Google, but the account remains tied to the phone number you verified. Do not count on email alone to rescue an account whose number has expired.
- Check which login options Hinge shows you in Settings > Account before relying on them.
- Keep the app installed and signed in on the same device.
- If you switch phones, expect to start a new account if the number is gone.
Phone number for Hinge: errors and fixes
Most Hinge issues are timing and formatting. Hinge's own help center even has an article on numbers that do not fit on the screen.
| Message or problem | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Code not received | Hinge has not sent the SMS, or delivery failed | Wait a few minutes, then cancel after about 2 minutes for a full refund |
| Number does not fit on screen | Country code entered twice or extra digits | Choose the country in the picker and paste the number without the code |
| Invalid code | A typo or an older code | Use only the newest code in your dashboard |
| Number already in use | That number belongs to another Hinge account | Cancel and buy a different number |
| Locked out after a new phone | Login code went to an expired number | Hinge cannot change the number; contact support to delete and restart |
Pay only if the Hinge code arrives
When you buy a Hinge number, TempSMSVerify freezes the price in your balance. The charge goes through only when an SMS reaches the number. If Hinge never sends the code before the number expires, the full amount returns to your balance automatically.
Date honestly and safely on Hinge
Use the number for one genuine profile with your own photos and prompts. Hinge's terms ban fake profiles, catfishing, scams, harassment and creating a new account after a ban, and our Acceptable Use Policy at /acceptable-use does too. Complete selfie verification, meet in public, and report anyone who asks for money or a code.
FAQ
Hinge verification FAQ
Does Hinge require a phone number?
Yes. Hinge requires every member to verify a mobile number, and it sends an SMS code when you log in with that number. A TempSMSVerify number can receive the sign-up code, but remember that Hinge does not let you change the number later, so plan how you will keep access.
Can I change my phone number on Hinge?
No. Hinge's help center says members cannot change the phone number linked to an account, for security reasons. If you lose access to the number, Hinge can delete the old account so you can start a new one. That is why a temporary number suits short-term use only.
How many digits is the Hinge verification code?
Hinge sends a 6-digit code by SMS. Enter it in the box on screen before it times out. With TempSMSVerify, the full message appears in your dashboard as soon as it arrives. If you request a new code, only the latest one works, so ignore older messages.
Why am I not getting my Hinge code?
Check the country code first; entering it twice is a common mistake. Then wait a few minutes before resending. If nothing arrives, cancel the order after about 2 minutes and your frozen TempSMSVerify balance is refunded in full. A number from another country often works when the first does not.
What happens if my Hinge number expires?
Nothing, as long as you stay logged in. The problem comes when you log in again with the phone number, because Hinge sends a code you can no longer receive. Since Hinge cannot change the number, your option then is asking Hinge support to delete the old account.
Is Hinge selfie verification the same as SMS verification?
No. SMS verification proves you control a phone number. Selfie verification compares a short video selfie with your profile photos and adds a badge. They are separate steps. A TempSMSVerify number helps only with the SMS code, and the selfie check is what tells matches your photos are really you.
Can I use a new number to rejoin Hinge after a ban?
No. Hinge's terms forbid new accounts after a ban, and so does our Acceptable Use Policy at /acceptable-use. If you think the ban was a mistake, contact Hinge at [email protected] or through its help center. TempSMSVerify numbers are for verifying a genuine profile that belongs to you.
