How Roblox phone verification works
Roblox does not need a phone number to sign up. Players 13 and older can add one under Settings > Account Info > Add Phone. Roblox sends a one-time security code to the number, and once you enter it the phone is verified.
Roblox says a phone number may be used on only one account. A verified phone can help you get back in if you forget your password, so you do not lose your experiences and limited items. That recovery role is why the number matters long after the first code.
Age rules and parents: read this first
Roblox builds its safety features around age. The phone feature is for players 13 or older. Since January 7, 2026, every Roblox user must complete an age check (facial age estimation, or ID for older users) to use chat, and the check places the account in one of six age groups.
Roblox also removes some personal data, including the email and phone number, from accounts placed in the 5 to 8 or 9 to 12 age groups. For a child under 13, a parent should link a Roblox parent account and manage settings with Parental Controls, using the parent's own contact details. TempSMSVerify is for account owners who are old enough to follow Roblox's rules on their own, and our numbers are not a way around age checks.
Account security: what a temporary number cannot do
Roblox accounts hold Robux, limited items and years of progress, which makes them a common target for scams. A TempSMSVerify number can confirm one code, but it cannot receive a recovery code next month.
- Verify an email you control in Account Info, since Roblox needs it before you can turn on 2-Step Verification.
- Turn on 2-Step Verification with an authenticator app or a security key, and save the backup codes offline.
- Never share a Roblox security code, even with someone promising Robux or claiming to be staff.
Phone number for Roblox: errors and fixes
Most Roblox phone problems come from the one-account rule or from age settings on the account.
| Message or problem | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Add Phone option missing | The account is under 13 or in a younger age group | A parent should manage the account with Parental Controls |
| Number already in use | That number is on another Roblox account | Cancel after about 2 minutes (no charge) and try a fresh number |
| Code not received | Roblox has not sent the SMS yet, or delivery failed | Wait a few minutes before resending. No SMS means a refund |
| Invalid code | An older code or a typo | Use only the newest code in your dashboard |
| Still can't chat | Chat needs an age check, not a phone | Complete the age check in the Roblox app |
Pay only if the Roblox code arrives
When you buy a Roblox number, TempSMSVerify freezes the price in your balance and charges it only when an SMS reaches the number. If Roblox never sends the code before the number expires, the full amount returns automatically. Payment needs Card via Stripe (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay); Crypto (USDC or SOL on Solana), which in practice means an adult's card or wallet.
Responsible use on Roblox
Use TempSMSVerify only for your own Roblox account and follow the Roblox Terms of Use and Community Standards. Alt accounts for scams, trading fraud, harassment, bypassing age checks or returning after a ban break Roblox's rules and our Acceptable Use Policy at /acceptable-use.
FAQ
Roblox verification FAQ
Does Roblox require a phone number?
No. You can create a Roblox account without a phone number. Players 13 and older can add one for sign-in and account recovery. Chat access depends on an age check, not on a phone. A TempSMSVerify number can receive a one-time security code, but a verified email and 2-Step Verification matter more for keeping the account.
How old do you have to be to add a phone to Roblox?
Roblox says the phone number feature is for players 13 or older. Accounts placed in the 5 to 8 or 9 to 12 age groups have personal data such as email and phone removed. For younger players, a parent should link a parent account and manage settings through Roblox Parental Controls.
Does a phone number unlock chat on Roblox?
No. Since January 2026, Roblox requires every user to complete an age check to use chat, through facial age estimation or, for older users, ID verification. The check sorts accounts into age groups that control who can chat with whom. A phone number adds security, but it does not replace the age check.
Can I use the same phone number on two Roblox accounts?
No. Roblox says a phone number may be used on only one account. If a number is already on another account, Roblox will not verify it again. With TempSMSVerify, a rejected number never receives an SMS, so you are not charged. Cancel after about 2 minutes and try a fresh number.
What 2-Step Verification does Roblox use?
Roblox offers 2-Step Verification by authenticator app, email or security key, and only one can be active at a time. You need a verified email before you can turn it on. An authenticator app with backup codes stored offline is the strongest option, and it does not depend on a phone number.
Why is my Roblox code not arriving?
Delivery depends on Roblox and on the carrier behind the number. Request the code once and wait a few minutes before resending, because repeated requests can pause new codes. If nothing arrives, cancel after about 2 minutes, and TempSMSVerify returns your frozen balance automatically and in full.
Is it allowed to use a temporary number on Roblox?
Verifying your own account when you are 13 or older is a normal use. Using numbers to get around age checks, run scam or trading alts, harass players or come back after a ban breaks Roblox's rules and our Acceptable Use Policy at /acceptable-use. Roblox can moderate or delete accounts used that way.
