Quick answer

Can I use a temporary phone number for Ubisoft?

Yes, for a one-time Ubisoft verification code. TempSMSVerify shows the SMS in your browser and charges you only if it arrives. Do not keep it as your SMS 2-Step method or recovery phone, because Ubisoft sends codes there on every untrusted login and the number expires after up to 20 minutes. Use an authenticator app instead.

How the Ubisoft verification code works

A Ubisoft account (used by Ubisoft Connect, Rainbow Six Siege, Assassin's Creed and other titles) is created with an email. Under Account Management > Security, you can turn on 2-Step verification with an authenticator app, email or SMS.

Once 2-Step is on, every login from a device Ubisoft does not trust asks for a unique code sent to the method you chose. You can mark devices as trusted, and you can change the method or turn 2-Step off from the Security page.

The recovery phone: why it should be yours

Ubisoft's help center notes that when you set up an authenticator app, you may be asked to add a recovery phone number if the account has none. With SMS 2-Step, Ubisoft says you need access to the phone number on the account before you log in.

Both roles outlast a TempSMSVerify number, which stays active for up to 20 minutes. If the recovery phone or SMS method points to a number you cannot reach, you may need Ubisoft Support to get back in.

  • Pick an authenticator app as your 2-Step method and save the backup codes Ubisoft shows.
  • Use a number you own as the recovery phone on any account with purchases or progress.
  • Keep the account email secured with its own 2FA.

When a temp number for Ubisoft fits

A temp number for Ubisoft fits a single code step: for example, confirming a phone during setup while abroad, or testing a flow on your own account. If you plan to keep SMS on the account, replace the number afterward in Account Management.

Pay only if the Ubisoft code arrives

When you buy a Ubisoft number, TempSMSVerify freezes the price in your balance and charges it only when an SMS reaches the number. If Ubisoft never sends the code before the number expires, the full amount returns automatically. While the number is active, another code costs nothing extra.

FAQ

Ubisoft verification FAQ

Does Ubisoft require a phone number?

Not to create an account. Ubisoft accounts use an email. A phone comes in if you choose SMS 2-Step verification, and Ubisoft may ask for a recovery phone when you set up an authenticator app. A TempSMSVerify number can receive a one-time code, but long-term roles need a number you own.

What 2-Step methods does Ubisoft Connect offer?

Ubisoft offers three: an authenticator app, a code by email, and a code by SMS. Once 2-Step is on, every login from an untrusted device needs a code from the method you chose. An authenticator app is the most reliable option because it does not depend on a phone line or inbox.

Should I use a temporary number for Ubisoft 2-Step?

No. With SMS 2-Step, Ubisoft sends a code on every login from an untrusted device, and it expects you to have access to the number on the account. A TempSMSVerify number expires after up to 20 minutes, so you would lose those codes. Use an authenticator app and a number you own for recovery.

Why is my Ubisoft SMS code not arriving?

Delivery depends on Ubisoft and on the carrier behind the number. Check that you selected the right country, then wait a few minutes before resending. If nothing arrives, cancel after about 2 minutes, and TempSMSVerify returns your frozen balance automatically and in full.

How do I stop Ubisoft asking for a code every time?

Mark the device as trusted when you sign in. Ubisoft then skips the 2-Step code on that device until you remove it from the trusted list on the Security page. Codes are still required on new devices and browsers, which is the point of 2-Step verification.

What if my Ubisoft SMS number no longer works?

If you still have access, change the method to an authenticator app or update the phone on the Security page. If you are locked out, use the backup codes Ubisoft gave you or contact Ubisoft Support. This is why a temporary number should never stay as your 2-Step or recovery phone.
